CORGI direct Visual Risk Assessment of Gas Appliances Form
These six ‘indicators’ are discussed within Gas Safe Registers Technical Bulletin, TB 016 Visual Risk Assessment of Gas Appliances, which you can obtain a copy of from Gas Safe’s website as well as within our Essential Gas Safety – Domestic manual (Order Ref: GID1).
This duty is a basic and minimum requirement stipulated under Regulation 26 of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations (GSIUR). We are often required to purge a gas installation after temporary interruption of the gas supply i.e. a ‘check and relight’ condition or we pass a gas cooker, fire, etc whilst heading for the boiler.
Well, whilst conducting a check & relight or passing another gas appliance we need to do a simple visual risk assessment of the appliance(s) in an effort to identify any obvious safety issue – most of us probably do this automatically without giving it a second thought.
However, when we’ve done our work and left the customer’s home, how can we prove we’ve done those minimum safety checks; particularly should something go wrong at a later date?
An answer is a simple form allowing you to record basic information on the appliance(s) involved which can be left with your customer and a file copy kept by yourself for future review.
